Here’s a quick breakdown of your new prescription:

Allergy Eye drops control a variety of symptoms of allergies. The medications tend to work better if you take them daily when symptoms are present and/or if you take them before being exposed to an allergen.

They are used for the prevention and treatment of signs and symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis. Allergic conjunctivitis: Some materials (allergens) like pollens, house dust or animal fur may cause allergic reactions resulting in itching, redness as well as swelling of the surface of your eye.

How to Use & Keep Using

Here’s how to use the medication

This medication can be taken once or twice a day.
If you miss a dose: take your dose when you remember, and then go back to your regular routine.

Tips & Precautions

Wash your hands.

  1. Remove the cap from the bottle.

  2. Tilt your head back and look up at the ceiling.

  3. Use your index finger to pull down your lower eyelid.

  4. Hold the dropper over your eye and squeeze the prescribed number of drops into your eye.

  5. Close your eye and gently press your finger to the inside corner of your eye (near your nose) for 1 to 2 minutes.

  6. If you need to use drops in both eyes, repeat the steps for your other eye.

Some tips:

  • if you wear contacts you should wait at least 15 minutes after applying eye drops before putting in your contacts

  • some eye drops contain benzalkonium chloride which can discolour soft contact lenses.

  • some people prefer to apply eye drops while looking in a mirror

Side Effects

Remember, this medication is just for you.

Eye drops may cause a temporary burning or stinging sensation in the eyes. You may also experience

  • sensitivity to light

  • discharge

  • increased tearing

  • staining of the eye

Driving and using machines: You may find that your vision is blurred for a time just after you use your eye drops. Do not drive or use machines until your vision is clear.
