Here’s a quick breakdown of your medication:
Sennosides (senna)is a natural laxative made from natural senna, a shrub-like plant whose leaves and pods have been used for centuries in the East and West as a purgative. The senna plant stimulates a series of comfortable wave-like contractions called peristalsis to help encourage bowel movements and ease constipation. It’s the #1 most trusted laxative by Canadians that has provided dependable support for over 60 years.

How to Use & Keep Using
Here’s how to use the medication
Sennosides (senna) provides gentle overnight relief of occasional constipation.
Most people experience a bowel movement in as early as 6 to 12 hours after your dose.
Take 1-2 tablets once or twice daily, best at bedtime
Swallow whole, do not chew, break or crush
Take with a full glass of water
Each tablet is 8.6 mg standard sennosides
Maximum daily dose is 8 tablets (68.8 mg/day)
Do not take other medications within 2 hours of this drug
Do not take alongside any other laxatives
Don’t take longer than a week without consulting a health care practitioner
Missed Doses
If you take this drug on a regular basis, take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed dose and take it after your next bowel movement. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.
Storage, Stability, Disposal
Store at room temperature and in a dry place. Do not store in a bathroom.
Keep all drugs in a safe place, out of reach from children and pets.
Do not take if expired. Dispose through a drug take-back program if it goes unused or expires.
Side Effects
Remember, this medication is just for you. Side effects can occur, but not everyone gets them.

Stomach pain or cramps
Rare side effects:
Nausea, vomiting diarrhea that doesn’t stop
Contraindications, warnings and drug interactions
Sennosides (Senna) are contraindicated if you are allergic to any component of the formulation or if you have a known or suspected bowel obstruction, acute surgical abdomen, ileum, atonic bowel, appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. Also if you are experiencing any concurrent fever, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain or bloating – do not take sennosides (Senna) until talking to a healthcare provider.

How to get your prescription:
Once your kit is ready you can either pick it up at our on site location (75 Montpelier St, Brampton, ON., L6Y 6H4) or have your medication delivered monthly to your home for free. We ship across Canada to all regions except for: New Brunswick, Northwest Territories, Prince Edward Island, Nunavut, and Yukon. Once your order has been processed, you’ll be provided with a tracking number and can expect your delivery within 2-5 days.
How to get a refill:
If you require a refill of your Hydralyte, you can email the pharmacy team at pharmacy@jackhealth.ca, or by reach them by phone at 905-291-7970 to request a refill. Please do so 1 week before your next refill is due to ensure you receive your medication on time.

Sennosides (senna) during Pregnancy or Breastfeeding
Sennosides (senna) can be safely used during pregnancy. Talk to your health care provider before using sennosides (senna) if you are breastfeeding.

You can drink alcohol while taking sennosides (senna).
